Palin 'going rouge'

Has anybody been watching the campaign trail speeches lately? It seems that whenever Palin is on her own, she goes off on rants and tangents about things she wants. She tends to state ideas that she disagrees with regarding McCain. In one of her speeches yesterday, she was saying she will make sure that there is plenty of funding for ‘special needs children’.

Okay.. what about cutting funding in Alaska for the special Olympics? If you’re going to try to fund special needs children, why would you take away something as recreational and character building as that? Special Olympics is a place where all children, regardless of handicap, can play, have fun and compete. If the woman is going to build a case for something she should make sure she hasn’t been a hypocrite. Also, she said that when McCain is president, there will be a spending freeze on all unnecessary government spending… so now the question I ask, is what about the ‘special needs’ children? Where are they going to fall and qualify under this plan? Is she going to make them a necessary fund, yet cut out other important things such as after school programs? Or will she just neglect the fact that she was pushing for funding to special needs children and ignore them if McCain is president? Another thing I ask myself is, if she didn’t have a child who had down syndrome, would she even be caring to push this matter upon the public? I’m fairly sure the McCain campaign didn’t set her up to do that, those are her little rogue speeches that she’s giving.

The McCain campaign and McCain sources seem to be becoming increasingly frustrated with the way Palin is handling herself as the vice presidential nominee.

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin “going rogue.”

…You know you’re doing something wrong when the party who is supposed to be behind you in every way possible is questioning your motives when you’re on stage. Obviously she’s Maverick and they just can’t handle it. I find it interesting because I had always presumed that the Mccain campaign and advisers would stand behind any tactics she used, since they (and don’t hate me for saying this) tend to play dirty.

Another Mccain adviser had stated this:

She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone, she does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.

Why would we want somebody like this as a vice presidential nominee? A McCain Adviser and Palin associate both stood sturdy behind their decision to limit her press interaction. They both flatly said that “she was not ready and that the missteps could have been a lot worse.”

If she has to be monitored by people working within and for their campaign, and she can’t even really control what on earth she talks about when she’s doing something as simple as a speech (which, might I add usually has those little teleprompter thingys anyway) then how can we trust her to possibly take John Mccain’s place in the instant that something (god forbid) happens to him if he gets in office? Does anyone else besides me have a feeling that her views will change radically if they get in to office and she may try to push issues and funding that McCain doesn’t support? ‘Cause I do.

Oh noooo they're disappearing :(

What you ask?! The orcas!!! They are disappearing! As you know, they are endangered already, but scientists have been tracking them for a while because… well, they do that with endangered species. So anyway, Seven Puget Sound killer whales are gone and missing, and the scientists fear that they may be dead! That is an extremely large number when you consider the census is only thinking that there’s about 83 left down south.

What is weird is that in 1999, there was the largest disappearance as well, which was 7. That was when there was a recession, just like now, so it leads me to believe that they were hunted and sold for something. I’m not too sure what killer whales are valuable for, I mean they don’t have ivory tusks or leather skin, but I’m sure someone somewhere could find value in them (besides their obvious beauty. I also doubt somebody slayed them to put them on the wall but hey you never know… maybe they had strong walls.)

The scientists have noticed that chinook salmon (which is what they primarily survive on) are in low numbers as well, which could be contributing to their disappearance.. but it’s the word that worries me. Disappearance. That means they are no longer on the radar. When one thing in nature starts to decline, it generally affects all the other living creature. It’s like when the the frogs and lizards and such were mysteriously dying earlier this year… they’re studying the dead bodies to find out if it’s some kind of virus.. and so far they haven’t figured it out. That’s scary. Because they always say that mass epidemics start small (with the smaller creatures) and once it hits their habitat, it starts moving its way up. Well now that I’ve instilled a sense of mass paranoia in all my readers, I think I’ll stop and get back to the poor orcas.

The three pods, or families, that frequent western Washington’s inland marine waters — the J, K, and L pods — are genetically and behaviorally distinct from other killer whales. The sounds they make are considered a unique dialect, they mate only among themselves, eat salmon rather than marine mammals and show a unique attachment to the region.

The population reached 140 or more in the last century, but their numbers have fluctuated in recent decades. They were listed as endangered in 2005.

The details on the pod and who was missing is in this article- http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/10/25/killer.whales.ap/index.html

amazing video

I stumbled across this video in my early internet browsing today and it is absolutely AMAZING! I wish I could give credit to whoever made it, but I have no idea who it was.

Obama ’08 – Vote For Hope from MC Yogi on Vimeo.

I read an interesting thing today regarding voting. I know that when you go into the polls to vote, you automatically assume that the order you vote in doesn’t matter- all that matters is who you say you’re voting for. WELLLLLL I have news for you. That’s not how it works. I wasn’t aware of this so I figured I would help make everyone else aware since I just heard about it. When you go into the polls to vote, you have to actually tick Barack’s name first, and THEN “Straight democratic”, or else it doesn’t register that you voted for Obama as president. I don’t know why it does that but it does.

It is claimed that this will only happen in NC because it has been caught in the other places it occurred, but don’t be stupid and trust that. Please click his name first then “Straight democratic”. Also be aware that if you go to the polls wearing anything electoral, even a button, you will not be able to vote. Some states are nice and will allow you to cover up your pin or put on a jacket to cover your shirts, but not all states are like that. They are hoping that you go home and decide to stay there rather than fight the line.

I just thought I would let you guys know. Early voting has begun as of Monday, October 20th… beat the rush, get your butts out there and vote! [For Obama. Just kidding haha vote for whoever you want to... just don't tell me about it. Lol]

AGH!

sorry that I’ve been slacking!!! I’m still attempting to redesign this page (hence why it’s crazy and all over the place) but everything has been so hectic with school lately. Within this week everything should be fully functional and back to normal. I don’t like this layout much because my linkbar is really up in that icon on the top right side. You click one of them and it gives a drop down of my links. I don’t think anyone can find it. Weird. ANYWAY! updates soon :) I also write a new post on helpmepaymyloans.com

I suggest you follow me there too… because well, I’ll be getting paid from that so the more visitors the better!!!!

Too observant & Privacy

I am too observant. For my own good. Have you ever had that issue? Where you’re just tooooooo freaking observant and you can’t shut off your senses? Where you’re aware of every single thing going on around you and no matter how much you don’t want to hear/see it, its impossible to block out?! I have that problem. It ruins my concentration like woah. Also, it makes it difficult to do things without having my mind wander.

I notice there’s some people who are extremely aloof, and don’t seem like they notice a damn thing. Like a gigantic ship with a big red pirate flag could go by, while they ‘swab their decks’, and the person would be like… “oh… did you feel that breeze? must be nothing’. YEAH! that’s a trait I want. It would make life so much easier if I could breeze through my days, honing in only on what I wanted to and not getting little irritating things in my way. There is something to be said for aloofness. That something is “try it!”.

Also! I promise I’ll have my next post actually related to the going-ons in the world… I just felt like writing something like this because my mind is wandering and I’m getting ready for class.

In my law class we had a section on sexual harassment suites, and we had a real case reenacted that my professor was one of the lawyers on. It just started turning my wheels, because hearing the transcript just reminded me how crazily different people are now and how the lines are drawn at such weird angles when it comes to anything. Our generation truly is the most studied generation. That’s a fact I had learned in my marketing class. We are the generation that everybody can’t seem to figure out. Hell, I’m in this generation and I can’t even figure myself out. Lol.

I’ve had some issues over the whole “privacy” thing lately and what I observe in people’s behavior. Privacy is such a different thing that it used to be 10 years ago. Even 5 years ago. It seems as if nobody is a private person anymore, and everybody puts their lives up for show. It’s like, if you know or meet someone, they automatically want your myspace page.. your facebook page… I mean, even giving out your screen name is becoming radically different. I used to (and still do) treat my screen name like my phone number… if I wouldn’t give you my phone number then why would I give you my screen name? Call me old fashioned or weird but there’s something to say for having that disconnect from everyone you come in contact with by choice… and only being available when you choose to be.The only way I give someone my screen name is if they’re an old friend or if I have to for school/group projects. Then I keep it strictly professional. Then there’s people who give everyone and their mother their screen name, and they’re like “ohh! I see you during the day! let’s chit chat all night too- I don’t have other things in real life I need to worry about. I’ll be on instant messenger alllllll night!”

Well yah, when I was single I did that.. but that’s cause I was filling in my extra time and pushing the walls or boredom away, and trying to find something to do after class if my friends were still working or in at school. I mean, where do you draw the line?

It seems as if the majority of my friends have gotten off that kick. The ones that are online just put up an away message all the time anyway. I’m going to be 24 in december… do I really need to still be on something I used when I was 13 every single day of my life!? How does that look professionally when I start my career? Or even.. what can myspace or facebook link me to, and get me in trouble for since employers seem to stalk those pages now as well? I give kudos to Jenna- who was the only one who could justify me being on AIM all day long because she had me matched for a while. But I am sad to say that even sheeeee is only on at work and no longer on at night. I am saddened! (you hear that Jenna! bahaha. Just kidding). But that made me rethink how much I use things like that. And made me rethink people who need it on whenever they are at their computer.

My sociology class went over these theories (which I entirely believe are true) that we tend to become closest to those that we spend the most time with and are in close proximity to. So if I’m in school or work and I see somebody everyday… sure as hell doesn’t mean I’m giving them my screen name or all my social pages so I can chit chat with them on a daily basis.

An important finding, Ms. Ellison said, was that students who reported low satisfaction with life and low self-esteem, and who used Facebook intensively, accumulated a form of social capital linked to what sociologists call “weak ties.” A weak tie is a fellow classmate or someone you meet at a party, not a friend or family member. Weak ties are significant, scholars say, because they are likely to provide people with new perspectives and opportunities that they might not get from close friends and family. “With close friends and family we’ve already shared information,” Ms. Ellison said.

That was taken from a massive social experiment with facebook where people did not know they were observed. Not to knock down what anybody does in their spare time but what would you think about somebody you know who has to be on every single social website known to man kind when it’s not neccesary or business related? It’s like their trying to replace something in their real life with something that can allow them to focus solely on the computer and ignore real life going on around them.

Me? I prefer to be out living life, yet it seems like the only way to get a hold of people it so sit on a damn computer. UGH!!! When does it ever stop!?

I should have grown up 2 generations ago, where it was all jazz music, wine, dinner dates, dancing and meaningful conversation. Technology and I have too much of a love/hate relationship to make it work. Lol.

'That One'

Who is ‘that one’ you may ask!? The one, the only….*drum roll pleaaaaase*

Barack Obama!!

During the presidential debate John Mccain kindly (*cough* not so kindly) referred to Barack Obama as “that one”. What he didn’t know was he was throwing fuel into the fire for the media to come up with this WONDERFUL website that makes me giggle everytime I see it. http://thatone08.com/

Please click onto the song bahahaha it’ll get stuck in your head for hours.

That is all. Sorry for the short post.

OH! ALSO!! I know I have lotssss of wonderful readers that like to stalk my blog, so I just wanted to clue you in on the fact that I have a JOBBY JOB! That’s right kids, I have a job writing :) I am the new voice of “Helpmepaymyloans.com” WHICH (aside from the name that sounds a little not so college friendly) is actually a really informative and neato website. I’m covering everything that has to do with the financial sector and making it FUN! I put up one post already and I’ll be attempting to get between 2-4 every week. Go stalk it because the more people that go there, the more sponsors we get, and the more supplementary income I will have to support my coffee habit :)

Also, since I have an extremely high flow of traffic through my website, I’m interested in finding a business or website (big or small) that would like to be featured in that handy dandy little advertising block I have going on. You would be somewhat of a sponsor… We negotiate a very small fee and everyone who consistantly goes to my website will see your advertisement. I’m sure you know how it works. If you’re interested then just shoot me an email at svn@knights.ucf.edu

It's like tae kwon do on crack!

Can I first start by saying that I think I’m extremely in shape. A little background information on me is [which i'm sure you all know] I’ve been horse riding since I was 8 as well as spent 3 of those horse riding years doing tae kwon do with it. I got right up to a black belt and then we moved to Europe. I chose to not continue there. I still ride a couple of times a week, I go to the gym, 150 situps when I  go etc.

Evidently none of that is good preparation for a good old fashioned ass kicking through kickboxing. I went in there only after eating cereal and drinking coffee, because the Pilates class I took on campus wasn’t too streneous, and I figured I could float right through it. Boy was I wrong. We started by running around the gym and doing jumps and kick backs every few feet. Then we wheeled out our punching bags (which is a workout in and of itself) and proceeded to spend the next 50 minutes beating the crap out of it. I must say, I had the best form, because obviously I spent years doing the same exact kicks. While some people were falling to the wayside and stumbling, I was attacking. At the speed of light. WHAT NOW?! I have never felt such a high in my life. I always get a high-rush from riding, where I feel like I’m floating. It’s extremely euphoric and I thought nothing can top that. Until I tried this.

I….LOVE it.

By the time it hit the half hour mark I wasn’t even euphoric anymore. It was like I had an ocean rushing through my veins. (The ocean is my other euphoric place, so you can see why I used that comparison). Good god I am in love.

I’ll be back there friday. Hopefully this time I won’t have sweat pouring off my face and I’ll eat a better breakfast than a bowl of cereal and coffee.

Yay for bill clinton!

First, to start off, pleaseee excuse the appearance of my blog. I’m messing with this design to see if I like it. The links to my other pages are on the top right in the first of those little icons. It’s a little confusing. It will most likely be changed soon.. okay now that THAT’S out of the way-So Bill Clinton came to my campus for the Obama rally, to show his support for him. It was actually pretty cool because I’ve never been 50 feet away from a president [well, ex-president]. We got there and had a hell of a time parking… and in the time we parked we watched some civic fly around the corner of the parking garage and totally sideswipe this parked truck. He didn’t even stop or anything! Sucks to be him though because his civic was new and the side was probably real messed up. So after that, we proceeded to walk to the event. There was a line winding all the way around 4 different buildings. The event was so huge that they moved it to the ouside of the UCF arena so everyone could watch! The sun was beating down on us and of COURSE I wore a long sleeve because I was afraid the arena would be cold. I sure learned my lesson haha.

He spoke, saying that he supported the bail out, and it needed to be done in order to save our economy. Pretty much, he said everything I was writing about in one of my previous posts. I was sitting on shane’s shoulders to see, it was so effin hot!!!! I ended up feeling sick and I had to walk to the campus Barnes and Nobles to get a drink. Haha I was so shaky at register the guy was like “… are you okay? Do you need an escort to your car?!” I’m like “NOOOO it’s just really hot- ring me out please NOW I need water!!!!!”

Unfortunately by the time I got out of the building, the speech was already over. But it was amazing.

I would also like to say that I’m meeting with somebody who runs a fairly succesful finance blog for college students, and he wants me to have a job writing for him :) The income comes in from the sponsors!! I’m so excited! He wanted my writing style in his blog cause he liked it alot. It’s going to be the coolest finance blog ever. I’ll make sure of it. So if you would like to follow me there, I’ll be posting details after I meet with him.

I’ll be still keeping this one of course cause I can write about whatever I want. So don’t worry :)

an update soon I proooomise!

Hi! I know I’ve been gone a few days without writing, but I’ll be updating soon I promise. I wanted to post my picture of good ol’ Bill Clinton I took at the rally, do a little synopsis of it, talk about the Palin/Biden debate, etc. etc. I’ve just been extremely busy with school and the fundraisers, as well as working on the new house [which is coming along nicely].

But I shall return in a day or two! I promise! I also plan to completely redesign this blog this week as well, and possibly add another gallery. Keep your eyes peeeeeeeeeeeeeled like bananas :)

ALSO!!! The new macbooks are supposedly scheduled to be released on October 14th. It is rumored that they will be equipped with NVIDIA graphics card, which will extremely improve the graphics and speed of the macbook when using graphics heavy programs. I’M EXCITED!!! I really want one. They are supposed to be cheaper than the old macbooks, and they are rumored to be aluminum. If anybody is interested in buying MY macbook (which is black, 2.2 GHZ 160 HD, Leopard, under warranty, and only 7 months old) so that I can buy this new one, LET ME KNOW PLEASE.

Til’ next time!

Oh- I would also like to include a person shout-out to my best friend Jenna- “reeeeeeeeeeeeach for them! now SCOOOOOOOOOOP the sunflowers! scooop them ALLLLLL up!”
